Harvest profile

Not much is known about clam populations on this beach but harvest opportunities on DNR-47 should be very similar to DNR-48 which is located about 200 yards to the north. This beach is rocky like DNR-48, and digging may be difficult. It should be productive for butter clams, native littleneck clams and horse clams in the middle to low intertidal zone. A good technique for digging butter clams in rocky substrate is to target individuals or small groups of butter clams by looking for the oval siphon holes that indicate their presence. This method takes less time and energy than random digging. A wide tined potato fork works well for digging butter clams in rocky substrate.

This may be an excellent oyster beach.
